This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Technical Adda (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you visit https://technicaladda.in (the “Site”), why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have.

Technical Adda is an independent tech blog run by Sanjeev Singh, an individual based in India. For data protection purposes, he is the “Data Fiduciary” (India) and “data controller” (EU/UK) for the Site.

  • Postal address: Singh House, near Baba Boys Hostel, Daliganj, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh 226020, India
  • Email: [email protected]

If anything here is unclear, email us. We would rather answer a question than have you guess.

Summary in plain words

  • You can read Technical Adda without creating an account or telling us who you are.
  • We collect data you choose to give us (comments and the contact form) and some technical data that every website receives (server logs).
  • With your consent where the law requires it, we use cookies for analytics (Google Analytics 4) and advertising (Google AdSense).
  • Some links are affiliate links (Amazon, Meesho and others). Those shops may set their own cookies when you click.
  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • You can withdraw consent at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Data collected automatically

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records your IP address, browser type, device, referring page, pages requested and time of request. This is standard for every website and is used for security, debugging and preventing abuse.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Small files stored in your browser. See the section below and our Cookie Policy for the full list.
  • Analytics data. Pages viewed, time on page, approximate location (city/country level), device type and how you reached the Site, collected through Google Analytics 4 when you allow analytics cookies.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive data such as health, financial account numbers, passwords, Aadhaar or PAN numbers. Please never send us your UPI PIN, OTP, bank details or ID numbers, even if you are asking for help with a payment problem.

Cookies

Cookies help the Site work, measure traffic and show ads. When you first visit, a consent banner lets you Accept all, Reject all or Customise by category:

  • Strictly necessary (always on): remember your cookie choice, keep the Site secure.
  • Analytics (off until you allow): Google Analytics 4.
  • Advertising (off until you allow): Google AdSense and its partners.
  • Affiliate: set by retailers like Amazon on their own websites after you click an affiliate link.

You can change your choice any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer. Full details, including cookie names and how long they last, are in our Cookie Policy.

Google AdSense and third-party advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads. This is how it works:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this Site or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on the Site. A list of Google’s ad technology partners is available inside Google’s ad settings and at https://support.google.com/admanager/answer/9012903 (opens in new tab).

Your opt-out choices:

If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you (non-personalised ads based on the page you are reading, not your history).

How Google uses data: Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites (opens in new tab).

Google Consent Mode v2: We use Google Consent Mode v2. Before you make a choice, the signals ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization are set to denied. Google tags then do not set advertising or analytics cookies. If you accept, the relevant signals switch to “granted”. If you reject, they stay denied. In denied mode Google may still receive limited, cookieless pings (for example, that a page loaded) to measure ads in aggregate.

Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland: For these visitors we use a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) that follows the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). It lists each ad partner and lets you allow or refuse them one by one.

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google LLC, to see which articles people read and how they find us. GA4 tells us things like page views, scroll depth, device type and approximate country/city. It does not tell us who you are.

  • GA4 does not log or store full IP addresses.
  • We have turned off Google signals and data sharing with Google products.
  • Data retention in our GA4 property is set to 14 months.
  • Analytics cookies are set only after you allow the Analytics category.

You can also block GA4 on every website with Google’s browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout (opens in new tab)

Some links on the Site are affiliate links. Examples: Amazon Associates (Amazon.in), Meesho, and other programmes listed in our Affiliate Disclosure.

When you click an affiliate link:

  • You leave Technical Adda and go to the retailer’s website.
  • The link contains our affiliate ID so the retailer knows the visit came from us.
  • The retailer (for example Amazon) sets its own cookies on its own website to track whether you buy something within its attribution window. This tracking is controlled by the retailer, under its privacy policy, not ours.
  • We receive commission reports with order totals and product categories. We do not receive your name, address, phone number or payment details.

Some affiliate networks (for example link-converter services) may redirect the click through their own domain and set a cookie there.

Retailer privacy policies:

Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Site, and only as much as they need:

  • Web hosting: our hosting provider
  • Analytics and advertising: Google (Analytics 4, AdSense)
  • Consent management: our cookie consent banner (built into the Site)
  • Authorities: if required by Indian law, a court order or a valid government request, or to protect our legal rights.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside India (for example in the USA or EU). Under India’s DPDP Act, 2023, personal data can be transferred outside India except to countries the Government of India specifically restricts. For EU/UK visitors, Google and other major providers use Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep data

Data How long
Approved comments Until the post is deleted or you ask us to remove the comment
Spam / rejected comments Deleted automatically within 30 days
Contact form messages Up to 12 months after the conversation ends, unless needed for a legal matter
Server logs Up to 90 days
GA4 event data 14 months
Your cookie choice 12 months, then we ask again

Once the Indian DPDP Rules on data erasure apply fully, we will delete personal data once the purpose is served and you have not engaged with us for the period those Rules set, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Your rights under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023

India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) gives you, as a “Data Principal”, these rights:

  1. Right to information: ask what personal data we hold about you, how we use it and who we have shared it with.
  2. Right to correction and completion: ask us to fix data that is wrong or incomplete.
  3. Right to erasure: ask us to delete your data when it is no longer needed or when you withdraw consent (unless the law requires us to keep it).
  4. Right to withdraw consent: as easily as you gave it, for example through the Cookie settings link or the unsubscribe link in emails. Withdrawal does not affect anything done before.
  5. Right to grievance redressal: complain to us and get a response.
  6. Right to nominate: name another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to act.

Status of the law (as of October 2026): The DPDP Rules, 2025 were notified on 14 November 2025 and come into force in phases. The Data Protection Board provisions are already active. Most obligations for Data Fiduciaries (notice, consent, security, breach reporting, data principal rights) take full effect 18 months after notification, around 13 May 2027. We follow these principles now. Until then, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 also apply.

Grievance Officer / contact for privacy requests

  • Name: Sanjeev Singh
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Address: Singh House, near Baba Boys Hostel, Daliganj, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh 226020, India

We will acknowledge your request within 7 days and respond within 30 days at most (never more than the 90 days allowed under the DPDP Rules). We may ask you to confirm your identity, usually by replying from the same email address you used with us.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India once its online complaint process is available to you under the Act.

Visitors from the EU, UK and USA

EU and UK (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. We rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies and on legitimate interest for security and answering messages. You can complain to your local data protection authority (for example the ICO in the UK). Email us to use any of these rights.

California and other US states (CCPA / CPRA)

If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law:

  • Categories collected: identifiers (name, email, IP address), internet activity (pages viewed), approximate geolocation, and inferences used for advertising.
  • We do not sell personal data for money. However, letting Google and ad partners use cookies for personalised advertising may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. You can opt out by choosing Reject all in the cookie banner, by using the Cookie settings link at any time.
  • You have the right to know, delete and correct your data, and we will not discriminate against you for using these rights.

Children’s privacy

Technical Adda is written for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children.

  • Under India’s DPDP Act a “child” is anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and we do not track, behaviourally monitor or target ads at children.
  • If you are under 18, please do not post comments or use the contact form without a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
  • If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
  • For visitors in the US, we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (COPPA).

How we protect your data

  • The whole Site uses HTTPS (encrypted connection).
  • Admin accounts use strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
  • WordPress, the theme and plugins are kept up to date.
  • Regular backups are stored securely by our hosting provider.
  • Only the site owner can access contact form messages and subscriber lists.

No website is 100% secure. If a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and, where the law requires, the Data Protection Board of India (and other authorities) within the required time.

Third-party websites and embeds

Articles may link to other websites or embed content (for example YouTube videos or X/Twitter posts). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website and may set cookies or track you. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. Please read their privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when we add new tools or when the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top always shows the latest version. For major changes, we will show a notice on the Site.
