Numerology Compatibility
Type two names to compare their numerology name numbers and number families.
Numerology is a traditional belief system, not science. Use it for fun and reflection, not for important decisions.
How numerology compatibility works
- Each name becomes a name number: every letter gets its Chaldean value, the values are added up, and the digits of the total are added until one digit remains.
- Each number from 1 to 9 belongs to one of three number families.
- The two numbers are compared, giving one of three results: the same number, the same family, or different families.
The tool does not give a percentage. Numerology traditions group numbers into families rather than score them, so a made-up percentage would only hide how the result was reached.
The three number families
| Family | Numbers | Shared nature |
|---|---|---|
| Thinkers | 1, 5, 7 | Independent, curious and driven by ideas |
| Builders | 2, 4, 8 | Practical, steady and focused on security |
| Creatives | 3, 6, 9 | Expressive, warm and led by feeling |
What your result means
| Result | When | Traditional reading |
|---|---|---|
| Mirror match | Both names have the same number | You think and act alike and understand each other easily, but may share the same blind spots. |
| Natural match | Different numbers in the same family | A shared rhythm: you tend to want similar things from life. |
| Different rhythms | Numbers in different families | You bring different strengths. Numerologists see this as a match that grows with effort and understanding. |
None of the three is a “bad” result. Different rhythms is the most common outcome, simply because two random numbers are more likely to sit in different families than the same one.
Worked examples
Rahul and Priya: natural match
- Rahul: R2 + A1 + H5 + U6 + L3 = 17, and 1 + 7 = 8 (Saturn)
- Priya: P8 + R2 + I1 + Y1 + A1 = 13, and 1 + 3 = 4 (Rahu)
8 and 4 are both Builders (2, 4, 8), so Rahul and Priya are a natural match: two practical people who value stability.
Arjun and Pooja: mirror match
- Arjun: A1 + R2 + J1 + U6 + N5 = 15, and 1 + 5 = 6 (Venus)
- Pooja: P8 + O7 + O7 + J1 + A1 = 24, and 2 + 4 = 6 (Venus)
Both are 6, a mirror match. Numerologists would read two Venus names as family-minded and warm.
Rohit and Pooja: different rhythms
- Rohit: R2 + O7 + H5 + I1 + T4 = 19, then 1 + 9 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1 (Sun)
- Pooja: 6 (Venus), as above
1 is a Thinker and 6 is a Creative, so the tool shows different rhythms. Notice that Pooja gets a different result with each partner. The result is about the pair of names, not about her.
Name numbers, planets and natural matches
| Number | Planet | Family | Natural matches |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sun | Thinkers | 5, 7 |
| 2 | Moon | Builders | 4, 8 |
| 3 | Jupiter | Creatives | 6, 9 |
| 4 | Rahu | Builders | 2, 8 |
| 5 | Mercury | Thinkers | 1, 7 |
| 6 | Venus | Creatives | 3, 9 |
| 7 | Ketu | Thinkers | 1, 5 |
| 8 | Saturn | Builders | 2, 4 |
| 9 | Mars | Creatives | 3, 6 |
Every number is also a mirror match with itself. Numerologists differ on finer pairings, and some books use other groupings, so another site may read the same pair differently.
Numerology compatibility vs kundli matching
| Numerology compatibility | Kundli matching by name | |
|---|---|---|
| Tradition | Numerology (ank jyotish) | Vedic astrology |
| Reads | Every letter of both names | Only the first sound of each name |
| Result | Mirror, natural or different rhythms | A score out of 36 across eight kootas |
| Changes if you add a surname? | Yes | No |
They answer different questions, so do not expect them to agree. For the Vedic view, try kundli matching by name.
Tips for a fair comparison
- Use the same kind of name for both people: first names for both, or full names for both.
- Use the spelling each person actually uses. One letter changes the number.
- Type names in English letters. Chaldean values belong to the English alphabet, so Hindi script is not read.
- Many numerologists also compare date-of-birth numbers (mulank and bhagyank). This tool uses names only.
Numerology is a traditional belief, not science. A “different rhythms” result says nothing about whether two people will be happy together; trust, respect and how you talk to each other matter far more.

FAQ
Numerology Compatibility FAQs
How do I check numerology compatibility by name?
Work out each person’s name number by adding up the Chaldean values of their letters and reducing the total to one digit. Then check whether the two numbers are the same, in the same family (1-5-7, 2-4-8 or 3-6-9), or in different families. The tool above does all of this and shows both numbers.
Which numbers are compatible in numerology?
Numbers in the same family are traditionally seen as compatible: 1, 5 and 7; 2, 4 and 8; and 3, 6 and 9. Two people with the same number are a mirror match. Numbers from different families are read as a pair with different strengths that can work well with effort.
Should I use first names or full names?
Either works, as long as you use the same kind of name for both people. Most people compare the names they call each other. Full names add more letters and usually give different numbers, so a pair can be a natural match on first names and different rhythms on full names.
Why is there no compatibility percentage?
Numerology groups numbers into families rather than scoring them, so a percentage would be invented. The tool shows the two name numbers, their planets and which of three results applies: mirror match, natural match or different rhythms. If you want a percentage game, the love calculator gives one from the letters.
Is numerology compatibility the same as kundli matching?
No. Kundli matching (gun milan) is Vedic astrology: it reads a nakshatra from each name’s first sound and scores eight kootas out of 36. Numerology compatibility only compares two numbers made from every letter of the names. The two methods often disagree, because they measure different things.
Can numerology predict a successful marriage?
No. Numerology is a traditional belief system with no scientific evidence behind it. A mirror match does not guarantee harmony, and different rhythms does not mean trouble. Trust, respect, shared values and good communication matter far more than any number made from the letters of two names.
What if one of us is known by two names?
Try both. Numerologists usually go by the name a person is called and signs with most often, because that is the name others use. Compare the results, but do not pick a name just to get a better match. A spelling or name change is a big step to take for a number.
Are the names I type saved?
No. The numerology compatibility tool runs entirely in your browser, so the names you type are never sent to our servers or stored. There is no sign-up. Refreshing or closing the page clears everything, so you can compare any two names privately.
