Word to PDF

Turn a Word DOCX file into a PDF that looks like it does in Word: same fonts, tables, page breaks and page numbers. Nothing is uploaded.

How this Word to PDF converter keeps your formatting

Most free converters upload your file, rebuild it on their server and send a PDF back. This one draws the document inside your browser tab and hands it to the browser’s own PDF printer, the same one behind “Save as PDF” in Chrome, Edge and Safari. A few things make the PDF match Word:

  • Word’s own page breaks. When Word saves a file it records where each page ended. The converter breaks pages at exactly those points, so page 4 in Word is page 4 in the PDF.
  • Same-size fonts. If your phone or laptop lacks Calibri, Cambria, Arial, Times New Roman or Courier New, the converter uses Carlito, Caladea, Arimo, Tinos or Cousine. Each has the same letter widths as the Microsoft font it replaces, so every line wraps at the same word.
  • Google Fonts. Documents set in fonts such as Poppins, Inter, Montserrat or Urbanist get them from Google Fonts. Only the font name is requested, never your document.
  • Headers, footers and page numbers. “Page 3 of 12” style footers are filled in for every page, and a section’s header carries on to the next section when Word links them.
  • Real text. The PDF keeps text as text, so it can be searched, copied and read by job portals’ resume scanners (ATS).

How to convert Word to PDF

  1. Drop a .docx file into the box above, or tap it to browse.
  2. Check the preview. It shows every page with its real size and margins, and the page count appears next to the button.
  3. Tap Download PDF. Your browser’s print window opens with the pages already sized.
  4. Set the printer to Save as PDF and save. Chrome and Edge name the file after your Word document.

Saving the PDF on phone and computer

Device What to tap after Download PDF
Android (Chrome) At the top, change the printer to Save as PDF, then tap the PDF button
iPhone or iPad (Safari) Tap Share in the print preview, then Save to Files
Windows (Chrome or Edge) Set Destination or Printer to Save as PDF, then Save
Mac (Chrome or Safari) Chrome: Destination Save as PDF. Safari: PDF menu at the bottom left, then Save as PDF

Page size and margins come from the document, so leave the print window’s paper size and margins on their defaults. In Chrome, turning off “Headers and footers” keeps the browser from adding a date or web address, though with this tool it has no room to add them anyway.

Resumes, offer letters and college documents

A resume sent as a Word file can open with different fonts on the recruiter’s laptop, and lines shift onto a second page. A PDF fixes the layout. Because this converter keeps real text, applicant tracking systems on Naukri, LinkedIn and company career pages can still read your skills and dates. An image-only PDF can’t be read that way.

The same applies to offer letters, rent agreements, project reports and assignments. They often hold your address, phone number or Aadhaar number, and here they never sit on someone else’s server.

Hindi and other Indian languages

Text in Devanagari and other Indian scripts converts as text, not as a picture. It is drawn with your device’s own fonts for that script, so it reads correctly. If the document used a specific Hindi font like Mangal or Kokila that your device lacks, the shapes look slightly different from Word, and lines can wrap a word earlier or later.

Limitations

  • .docx only. Old .doc files (Word 97 to 2003) need to be opened in Word or Google Docs and saved as .docx first.
  • Files Word never laid out. Documents exported from Google Docs or made by other apps don’t record page breaks. The converter then breaks pages itself, between paragraphs and tables, and keeps headings with the text that follows, so a page can end a few lines earlier than in Word.
  • Rare fonts. A font that is not on your device, not one of Microsoft’s common ones and not on Google Fonts is replaced by a similar one, which can move line breaks. On a page Word already laid out, the text is shrunk a little (at most 8%) so the page still ends where Word ended it.
  • Not drawn: comments, tracked changes, SmartArt and some floating text boxes. Accept or remove tracked changes in Word first if you want them in the PDF.
  • Table of contents numbers show what Word last saved. Update the table in Word before converting if pages moved.

FAQ

Word to PDF FAQs

How do I convert Word to PDF without changing the format?

Drop the .docx file into the converter, check the preview, then tap Download PDF and choose Save as PDF. The converter keeps Word’s page breaks, uses fonts with the same letter widths as Calibri, Arial and Times New Roman, and fills in page numbers, so pages break and lines wrap where they did in Word.

Is it safe to convert Word to PDF online here?

Yes. The document is opened and drawn inside your browser tab, and the PDF is made by your browser’s own Save as PDF. Nothing is uploaded. The only network request is for a font from Google Fonts when the document uses one, and that request carries just the font name.

How do I save the PDF on my phone?

After tapping Download PDF, the print window opens. On Android Chrome, change the printer at the top to Save as PDF and tap the PDF button. On iPhone, tap Share in the print preview and choose Save to Files. Chrome and Edge name the PDF after the Word file.

Can I select and copy text in the PDF?

Yes. Text stays real text, not an image, so you can search it, copy it and paste it elsewhere. That also means resume scanners used by job portals can read a resume converted here, which they can’t do with an image-only PDF.

Does Word to PDF work with Hindi documents?

Yes. Hindi and other Indian-language text converts as real text using your device’s fonts for that script. If the document was typed in a particular Hindi font your device doesn’t have, letter shapes can look slightly different and a line may wrap one word earlier or later.

Can I convert a .doc file to PDF?

Not directly. This converter reads .docx, the format Word has used since 2007. Open the .doc file in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice, save it as .docx, then drop it here. Old .doc files are a different binary format that browsers can’t read.

Why does my PDF have a different number of pages from Word?

Usually because the file was never saved by Word, for example a Google Docs export. Such files don’t record where pages end, so the converter decides itself and can end a page a few lines earlier. A missing rare font can do the same. Saving the file once in Word fixes both.

Is there a file size or page limit?

No limit is set by the tool. A long document with many images takes more memory, so a 100-page report can be slow on an older phone. If the preview struggles, convert it on a laptop.
