Which image tool do you need?
Find your job in the first column:
| You want to | Use | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Get a photo under a KB limit for a form or exam portal | Image Resizer | Set width, height and a target size in KB. It finds the best quality that fits, and shrinks the pixels only if it has to. |
| Make photos smaller for email, WhatsApp or a website | Image Compressor | JPG, PNG and WebP, many at once. Type a target such as 50 KB, or set the quality. Shows how much each file shrank. |
| Resize a whole folder of photos | Bulk Image Resizer | By percentage, by width, or to fit a box, with an optional KB limit per file. Download everything as one ZIP. |
| Cut out part of a photo or make it square | Crop Image | Drag the box, or lock it to 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9 or 9:16. |
| Fix a sideways or mirrored photo | Rotate Image, Flip Image | Rotate by 90°, 180° or any angle. Flip horizontally, vertically or both. |
| Open an iPhone photo on Windows or upload it to a portal | HEIC to JPG | Converts many HEIC files in one go. |
| Change any image to JPG, PNG or WebP | Image Converter | Also reads formats like GIF and BMP that your browser can open. |
| Fix a WebP image that will not open or upload | WebP to JPG | Pick a background colour for transparent areas. |
| Turn PDF pages into images | PDF to JPG, PDF to PNG | All pages or just the ones you list, at 72 to 288 DPI. Opens password-locked PDFs such as e-Aadhaar. |
| Turn a Word document into a PDF | Word to PDF | Keeps Word’s fonts, page breaks, headers and page numbers. Text stays selectable. |
| Make a small image bigger | Image Enlarger | 1.5×, 2×, 3× or 4× with smooth resampling. It adds pixels, not detail. |
| Turn a logo into a vector | PNG to SVG | Traces shapes into an SVG. Simple logos and icons work best; photos do not. |
| Turn an SVG into a normal image | SVG Converter | PNG, JPG or WebP at any width you set. |
| Combine photos into one image | Collage Maker | Grid of up to 6 columns, with spacing and a background colour. |
| Find the exact colour in an image | Color Picker | Click a spot to get HEX, RGB and HSL codes you can copy. |
| Make a meme | Meme Generator | Classic top and bottom text on any picture. |
How your files stay private
Every tool here works inside your browser. When you drop in a photo, your own phone or computer does the resizing, compressing or converting, and the result is saved straight from your browser. The file itself is never sent to our server.
- Nothing to delete later. Upload-based sites keep your file on their server for a while; one popular site says it removes images 30 minutes after processing. Here there is no server copy to remove.
- Some converters fetch code on first use. PDF, HEIC, Word, ZIP and SVG tracing need extra code, which your browser downloads from technicaladda.in the first time you use them. That code then runs on your device. Word to PDF may also fetch a font from Google Fonts by its name. Your file still stays with you.
- Location data is not copied. The tools draw your image fresh and save a new file, so camera details and GPS location stored in the original photo are not carried into the result. That is handy before you post a photo online.
- Works on phones. The tools run in current mobile browsers on Android and iPhone, with nothing to install. A very large image can be too big for a phone’s memory; if that happens, the tool says so and a smaller size usually works.
ID scans and family photos are exactly the files to keep off unknown servers. For more on images online, see our guide to spotting AI-generated images.
Image format cheat sheet
| Format | Best for | Transparency | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| JPG (JPEG) | Photos, form uploads, anything that must open everywhere | No | Loses a little quality each time it is saved. Transparent areas turn solid. |
| PNG | Screenshots, logos, text and images that need a clear background | Yes | A photo saved as PNG is usually much larger than the same photo as JPG. |
| WebP | Websites and blogs | Yes | Some apps and upload forms do not accept it. Convert to JPG for those. |
| HEIC (HEIF) | iPhone camera photos | Yes | Some Windows apps and many upload forms cannot open it. Convert to JPG. |
| SVG | Logos and icons that must stay sharp at any size | Yes | Not for photos. Many upload forms only take JPG or PNG. |
| Documents and multi-page scans | Not applicable | Forms that ask for an image will not take a PDF. Convert the page to JPG. |
Key facts
- Google reports that WebP lossy images are 25 to 34% smaller than comparable JPEG images, and lossless WebP images are 26% smaller than PNGs. (Google for Developers (opens in new tab))
- iPhone 7 and later can capture photos in HEIF. To shoot JPEG instead, go to Settings, Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible. (Apple Support (opens in new tab))
Tips for form and exam uploads
Government and exam portals in India often set three limits for a photo or signature: a file format (mostly JPG), a size range in KB, and sometimes pixel dimensions. They differ between portals and change between years, so check the official notification first. Then:
- Convert to JPG if your photo is HEIC, WebP or PNG.
- Crop to the shape the form asks for.
- Open the Image Resizer, enter the pixel size, and put the upper KB limit in “Target size in KB”.
- Check the result’s size before you upload. If the portal also has a minimum KB, raise the quality or the pixel size.
What these tools do not do
- No AI. The Image Enlarger uses smooth resampling, so it makes an image bigger but cannot add detail that was never there.
- No background removal, watermarking or face blurring yet.
- Output formats are JPG, PNG and WebP, plus SVG from the tracer. Animated GIFs come out as a still image.
- No password recovery. Locked PDFs open in the PDF tools only when you type the password.
FAQ
Image Tools FAQs
Are these image tools really free?
Yes, all 20 tools are free to use with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. They run in your browser instead of on our servers, so there is no processing cost to pass on to you. The site is supported by ads, and the tools work the same whether or not you see one.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No, your photos are not uploaded. Every tool processes the file inside your browser on your own device, and the result is saved straight from there. Some converters download extra code from our site the first time you use them, but your image itself never leaves your phone or computer.
How do I reduce a photo to a specific KB size?
Type your limit in the “Target size in KB” box of the Image Compressor, or the Image Resizer if you also need exact pixels. The tool tries different quality levels to find the best one that fits, and shrinks the pixel size only if even low quality is too big. The compressor and bulk resizer apply one limit to many files at once.
What is the difference between compressing and resizing?
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions, for example from 4000 × 3000 to 1200 × 900. Compressing keeps the dimensions, or caps the width, and saves the image at a lower quality to cut the file size. For a big drop in KB, do both: resize first, then compress.
How do I convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG?
Open the HEIC to JPG tool and drop in your photos; you can add many at once and download them as a ZIP. Safari opens HEIC directly, and other browsers load a small converter the first time. To stop new photos saving as HEIC, set iPhone Camera Formats to Most Compatible.
Can I process many images at once?
Yes. The bulk resizer, compressor, converters, rotate and flip tools all accept many files at once. When more than one result is ready, a “Download all (ZIP)” button saves them in a single file. Crop, the image resizer and PNG to SVG work on one image at a time.
Do these tools work on mobile?
Yes, they work in current mobile browsers on Android phones and iPhones, with no app to install. Because your phone does the work, very large images or long PDFs can take a few seconds or run out of memory. If that happens, try a smaller size or fewer files at once.
Which format should I use: JPG, PNG or WebP?
Use JPG for photos and for most form uploads, because it opens everywhere. Use PNG for screenshots, logos and anything that needs a transparent background. Use WebP for websites, where Google reports it is 25 to 34% smaller than a comparable JPG. If a portal rejects WebP, convert to JPG.
