SVG Converter
Turn SVG files into PNG, JPG or WebP images at any width, with transparency kept in PNG and WebP.
What this SVG converter does
It converts from SVG to a normal image: PNG, JPG or WebP. You need this when an app, form or social site will not accept SVG, or when you want a fixed-size picture of a logo or icon.
An SVG is a set of drawing instructions, not a grid of pixels, so it can be drawn sharp at any size. (MDN (opens in new tab)) The tool draws your SVG fresh at the width you ask for, instead of stretching a small picture. A 2000 px PNG from this tool is as crisp as a 500 px one.
Going the other way, from a PNG or JPG to SVG, is a different job called tracing. Use the PNG to SVG converter for that.
How to use the SVG converter
- Drop one or more .svg files into the box above, or click browse.
- Pick the format in Convert to: PNG (default), JPG or WebP.
- Enter the Width (px). It starts at 1024. The height is worked out for you.
- For JPG or WebP, set the Quality slider (10% to 100%, default 90%). For JPG, also pick a Background (for transparency) colour, white by default.
- Click Download, or Download all (ZIP) when you converted several files.
Real results from our test
We converted the Technical Adda logo, a 12.1 KB SVG with a 199.85 × 44 viewBox, on 19 October 2026 in a Chromium browser.
| Output | Width setting | Result size in pixels | File size |
|---|---|---|---|
| PNG | 1024 (default) | 1024 × 225 | 74.8 KB |
| PNG | 2000 | 2000 × 440 | 231.8 KB |
| JPG, 90%, white background | 2000 | 2000 × 440 | 71.5 KB |
| WebP, 90% | 2000 | 2000 × 440 | 50.0 KB |
Two things stand out. Doubling the width roughly tripled the PNG size, because the pixel count went up about four times. And at 2000 px, WebP was less than a quarter of the PNG’s size while still keeping the transparent background. If the place you are uploading to accepts WebP, it is usually the best pick.
Which format to choose
| Format | Transparency | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | Yes | You need a logo or icon with a see-through background that opens everywhere: Word, PowerPoint, Canva, WhatsApp, email. |
| JPG | No, filled with your background colour | A form or portal accepts only JPG, or the image sits on a plain white page anyway. |
| WebP | Yes | The image is going on a website and you want the smallest file. |
Per MDN’s image format guide (opens in new tab), JPEG has no alpha channel, while PNG and WebP both support transparency.
What width should I use?
- Website logo or icon: twice the size it is shown at, so it stays sharp on phone and laptop screens with high pixel density. A logo shown 200 px wide needs a 400 px export.
- Presentation slide: 1920 px wide for a full-width image.
- Print: a common rule is 300 pixels per inch, so multiply the print width in inches by 300. A 4 inch wide logo needs 1200 px.
- Favicon or app icon: use the exact size asked for, such as 512.
How the size of your SVG is worked out
The tool reads the SVG’s width and height attributes first. If they are missing, or set in percent, it uses the viewBox, which defines the drawing’s own coordinate size. (MDN (opens in new tab)) If neither exists, it assumes 300 × 150.
That shape decides the height of your PNG or JPG, so a file with a wrong or missing viewBox can come out cut off or with extra empty space. Open the SVG in a text editor and check the viewBox if that happens.
Limitations
- Linked files do not load. When a browser draws an SVG as an image, scripts are disabled and external resources such as linked images and stylesheets are not loaded. (MDN (opens in new tab)) Text that relies on a web font from outside the file can fall back to a system font. Embed images as data, or convert text to outlines in your design app, before converting.
- Animations become one still frame.
- Width only. You set the width, and the height always follows the SVG’s proportions. To get an exact width and height, crop afterwards with the crop tool.
- Very large widths can go past what your browser allows for one image. The tool shows an error and asks for a smaller size.
- SVG files only. For PNG, JPG or WebP to another raster format, use the image converter.
Key facts
- SVG is an XML-based vector format that describes an image as drawing commands, and scales smoothly to the size it is shown at. (MDN (opens in new tab))
- When SVG is used as an image, JavaScript is disabled and external resources cannot be loaded unless inlined as data: URLs. (MDN (opens in new tab))
- The viewBox attribute sets the position and size of the SVG’s drawing area in its own units. (MDN (opens in new tab))
- PNG stores raster images losslessly and supports full alpha transparency. (W3C (opens in new tab))
FAQ
SVG Converter FAQs
How do I convert SVG to PNG with a transparent background?
Choose PNG in Convert to and download. Transparent parts of the SVG stay transparent in the PNG, since PNG supports an alpha channel. WebP keeps transparency too and makes a smaller file. Only JPG fills the background, because JPG has no transparency, so it uses the colour you pick.
Will the PNG be blurry if I choose a large width?
No. The SVG is drawn fresh at the width you enter, so edges stay sharp at 500 px or 3000 px. Blur only appears if the SVG itself contains an embedded bitmap, such as a pasted photo. That part is still pixels and will look soft when enlarged.
Can this tool convert PNG or JPG to SVG?
No. The SVG converter only goes from SVG to PNG, JPG or WebP. Turning a PNG or JPG into SVG means tracing its shapes into paths, which is a different process. Use the PNG to SVG converter for that. It works best on logos and icons.
Why does the text in my SVG look different after converting?
Your SVG probably uses a web font linked from outside the file. When a browser draws an SVG as an image, external resources are not loaded, so the text falls back to a system font. Convert the text to outlines in Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape, then convert the SVG again.
Why is part of my SVG missing or cut off?
Either the SVG links to an outside image, which is not loaded, or its size information is wrong. The tool takes the shape from the width and height attributes, then the viewBox, and assumes 300 × 150 if both are missing. Check those values in a text editor.
Is my SVG uploaded to a server?
No. The SVG is read and drawn inside your browser, and the PNG, JPG or WebP is created on your device. Nothing is sent to Technical Adda or anywhere else. That makes it safe for client logos and unreleased designs.
What width should I use for a website logo?
Use twice the width the logo is shown at. A logo displayed 200 px wide should be exported at 400 px, so it stays sharp on high-density phone and laptop screens. Choose PNG or WebP to keep the transparent background, and WebP if you want the smallest file.
Can I convert many SVG files at once?
Yes. Drop several SVG files together and each one is converted with the same format, width and quality. A Download all (ZIP) button then saves every image in one file. Each output keeps its own proportions, so files with different shapes get different heights.
