PDF to JPG
Turn all pages of a PDF, or just the ones you pick, into JPGs. Opens password-locked PDFs too, without uploading anything.
How this PDF to JPG converter works
The converter reads your PDF inside the browser tab, draws each page with PDF.js (opens in new tab) (the same PDF engine Firefox uses to show PDFs), and saves each drawn page as a JPG. No server sees the file. The code that does the work comes from this site once, and after that your PDF only travels from your disk to your browser’s memory.
You can check this yourself. Convert one PDF, switch off Wi-Fi and mobile data, then convert a second PDF. It still works, because there is nothing to upload.
Most popular converters work the other way: you upload the PDF, their server renders it, and you download the result. That is fine for a brochure. It is a poor fit for an e-Aadhaar, a salary slip or a bank statement, because a copy sits on someone else’s server until they delete it.
How to convert PDF to JPG
- Drop a PDF into the box above, or click to browse. The tool takes one PDF at a time.
- If the PDF is locked, type its password in Password (locked PDFs only). Without it you’ll see “This PDF is locked. Type its password in the Password box above.”
- Optional: type the pages you want in Pages (optional), such as 1-3, 5. Leave it empty to convert every page.
- Pick a Resolution. The default is Medium (144 DPI), which suits most screens and upload forms.
- Set the Quality slider. It runs from 10% to 100% and starts at 90%. Lower values give smaller files with more blur around text.
- Conversion starts on its own. You’ll see “Rendering page 3 of 12” while it works. Change any option and the pages are drawn again.
- Download a single page with its own button, or click Download all (ZIP) to get every page in one file. Pages are named after your PDF, for example statement-page-1.jpg.
Convert only the pages you need
Type page numbers in the Pages (optional) box and only those pages are drawn. A single number such as 2 gives one page, 4-6 gives a range, and 1-3, 5, 9-10 mixes both. Leave the box empty for every page.
- Pages always come out in order, whatever order you type them in, and repeats are ignored.
- Each file keeps its real page number, so page 5 saves as statement-page-5.jpg, not page 1.
- Numbers past the last page are skipped. If none of them exist, the tool tells you how many pages the PDF has.
This saves time on long files. A 40-page bank statement where you need only the first page with your account details renders one page instead of 40, which matters on a budget phone at High or Print resolution.
Which resolution to pick
A PDF measures pages in points, and one point is 1/72 of an inch. So Low draws one pixel per point (72 DPI), and each step up multiplies the pixel count. Here is what each setting gives for a standard A4 page (595 × 842 points):
| Setting | DPI | A4 page in pixels | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low | 72 | 595 × 842 | Quick previews and chat apps where size matters more than detail |
| Medium (default) | 144 | 1191 × 1684 | Reading on a phone or laptop, most online forms |
| High | 216 | 1786 × 2526 | Small print, tables and stamps you need to zoom into |
| 288 | 2381 × 3368 | Printing, or cropping one part of a page and keeping it sharp |
Start with Medium. If the text looks soft when you zoom in, go one step up. Going straight to Print for a 40-page PDF makes 40 large files and can be slow on a budget phone.
Converting Aadhaar, PAN and bank PDFs safely
Indian ID and finance documents are the main reason to avoid upload-based converters. Your e-Aadhaar, PAN, Form 16 and bank statements hold your name, date of birth, address and account numbers. With this tool, those files stay on your phone or laptop.
Opening a password-protected PDF
Many of these PDFs are locked, and this converter opens them directly. The e-Aadhaar you download from UIDAI opens only with a password made of the first four letters of your name in capitals plus your year of birth, for example RANI1984 (Adobe India explains the format with examples (opens in new tab)). Many bank e-statements and salary slips are password-locked too.
- Drop the locked PDF in. The tool says it is locked.
- Type the password in Password (locked PDFs only). The pages render as soon as it is right.
- If it is wrong, you’ll see “That password is wrong. Check capitals and try again.” Passwords are case-sensitive, so RANI1984 works and rani1984 doesn’t.
The password is used only by PDF.js inside your browser tab to decrypt the file. It is not sent to any server or stored by this site. There’s no need to print a password-free copy first, so no open copy of your Aadhaar is left lying in your Downloads folder.
An image of your e-Aadhaar does not carry UIDAI’s digital signature, so use the JPG only where a scanned copy is accepted.
Make the JPG fit an upload form
Job, exam and government portals usually list an accepted format (often JPG or JPEG) and a size range in KB in their notice. A Medium page is often bigger than those limits. Two quick fixes:
- Use the image resizer and type a target size in KB. It finds the best quality that fits.
- Need only the photo or signature from a page? Crop the image first, then resize.
For a batch of pages, the image compressor takes them all at once with the same target KB.
PDF to JPG or PDF to PNG
| JPG | PNG | |
|---|---|---|
| Compression | Lossy, adjustable quality | Lossless |
| File size | Smaller | Larger, often several times larger for scanned pages |
| Text and lines | Slight blur at low quality | Pixel-sharp |
| Accepted by forms | Almost everywhere | Often, but not always |
Pick JPG for uploads and sharing. Pick PDF to PNG when you need crisp text for slides, notes or editing.
How it compares with upload-based converters
Figures below are what each tool’s own page stated as of October 2026. Check their pages before relying on them.
| Tool | Where the PDF is processed | What their page states |
|---|---|---|
| This converter | In your browser | Never leaves your device |
| Smallpdf | Their servers | “Automatically deleted an hour after processing” |
| Adobe Acrobat online | Adobe servers | Deleted unless you sign in to save it |
| FreeConvert | Their servers | Deleted automatically after 8 hours |
| iLovePDF | Their servers | Free plan caps PDF to JPG at 25 MB per task |
We don’t set a page count, file size or daily limit. The real ceiling is your device’s memory, which matters only for very long PDFs at the Print setting.
Limitations
- One PDF at a time. Convert the next PDF after downloading the first.
- You need the password. The tool opens a locked PDF with its password. It can’t remove or guess one you don’t know.
- Text becomes a picture. You can’t select or search text in the JPG.
- Memory: a long PDF at Print (288 DPI) can fail on an older phone. Drop to High or Medium.
Key facts
- PDF.js is a web-standards-based platform for parsing and rendering PDFs, maintained by Mozilla and contributors. (PDF.js (opens in new tab))
- JPEG has no alpha channel, so it can’t store transparency. (MDN (opens in new tab))
- PNG uses lossless compression. (MDN (opens in new tab))
- The e-Aadhaar PDF password is the first four letters of your name in capitals followed by your birth year in YYYY form. (Adobe India (opens in new tab))
FAQ
PDF to JPG FAQs
Is it safe to convert an Aadhaar PDF to JPG online?
It is safe with this tool because the PDF never leaves your device. PDF.js draws each page inside your browser, and nothing is sent to a server. Upload-based converters keep a copy on their servers for a while, from minutes to hours. For e-Aadhaar, PAN or bank statements, a browser-only converter is the safer choice.
How do I convert a password-protected PDF to JPG?
Drop the PDF in and type its password in the Password (locked PDFs only) box. The pages then render as usual. The password is used only inside your browser to open the file and is never sent anywhere. If it is wrong, the tool says so. The e-Aadhaar password is the first four letters of your name in capitals plus your birth year, like RANI1984.
Can I convert only one page of a PDF to JPG?
Yes. Type the page number in Pages (optional), such as 2, and only that page is converted. Ranges and lists work too: 1-3, 5 gives pages 1, 2, 3 and 5. Leave the box empty to convert every page. Each JPG keeps its real page number in the file name, such as statement-page-5.jpg, so nothing gets mixed up.
What DPI should I use for PDF to JPG?
Use 144 DPI (Medium) for most uploads and screen reading. An A4 page comes out at 1191 × 1684 pixels, which is sharp on a phone. Pick 216 DPI for small print or tables, and 288 DPI for printing. 72 DPI gives tiny files for quick previews, but small text gets hard to read.
How do I convert PDF to JPG without losing quality?
Raise the resolution and the quality slider. At 288 DPI and 100% quality, text and lines stay sharp even when zoomed in. JPG is always slightly lossy, so for pixel-perfect text use PDF to PNG instead. Expect larger files at these settings, then shrink them with the image resizer if a form has a KB limit.
Is there a page or file size limit?
No limit is set by the tool. There’s no page cap, no file size cap and no daily count. Your device’s memory is the only ceiling. A long PDF at the Print setting can fail on an older phone, so choose High or Medium for big files. You’ll see an error message if the browser runs out of room.
Does PDF to JPG work on mobile?
Yes, it works in Chrome, Safari and other modern mobile browsers. Tap the box, pick the PDF from your Files or Downloads, and the pages appear as JPGs. On a phone, Medium resolution is the best balance of speed and sharpness. Use Download all (ZIP) for many pages, or save single pages one by one.
How do I make the JPG under 100 KB for a form?
Convert the page first, then drop the JPG into the image compressor and type 98 in Target size in KB. It searches for the highest quality that fits and shrinks the dimensions only if it must. For exact pixels as well, use the image resizer’s target box instead. If you need just a photo or signature from the page, crop it first.
