Last updated: 25 October 2026

For most Indian beginners, Hostinger is the better pick: its entry plan costs less per month ($2.49 against $3.99), it offers an India server location and it accepts UPI and RuPay cards. Bluehost wins in one clear case: you want to run several sites and keep renewal costs low, since its Starter plan allows 10 websites and renews at $9.99/month.

This Hostinger vs Bluehost comparison uses the US dollar prices on both companies' global pricing pages (checked 20 October 2026), gives the India rupee prices under each table, works out what each costs over five years, and covers the things the plan cards leave out: Bluehost India can't auto-renew with Indian payment methods, and Hostinger's cheapest plan doesn't include a free domain.

Quick answer: Hostinger is cheaper to start ($2.49/month on a 48-month Premium plan, $119.52 upfront, or about $0.73/month for the India-only Single plan) and has an India data centre. Bluehost starts at $3.99/month on a 36-month term ($143.64 upfront) but includes 10 websites and renews at $9.99/month. Pick Hostinger for one or two sites, Bluehost for many small sites. If you pay in rupees on hostinger.in, Single (₹69/month) is the cheapest one-site plan; in USD on hostinger.com, Single isn't sold, so Premium is.

Hostinger vs Bluehost at a glance

Hostinger wins on entry price, India server location and payment options. Bluehost wins on how many websites the base plan allows, renewal price and phone support on its mid plan.

Dollar prices come from the Hostinger web hosting page (opens in new tab) and Bluehost shared hosting page (opens in new tab), checked 20 October 2026. Single isn't sold on Hostinger's global site, so its figure is the India price converted at ₹95 per dollar.

What is the cost in Indian rupees? On the Hostinger India web hosting page (opens in new tab), Single is ₹69/month (₹3,312 for 48 months, renews at ₹289) and Premium ₹139/month (₹6,672, renews at ₹449). On the Bluehost India shared hosting page (opens in new tab), Starter is ₹199/month (₹7,164 for 36 months, renews at ₹349) and UPI carts are capped at ₹1,00,000. All exclude 18% GST.

Plans and prices in India

Both hosts show a low monthly price that you only get by paying for several years upfront. Hostinger's lowest prices need a 48-month term; Bluehost India's need 36 months. Here are the shared hosting plans side by side.

Hostinger India web hosting plans

Plan Promo price Paid upfront (48 months) Renews at Websites Storage Backups
Single (India site only) about $0.73/month about $35 about $3.04/month 1 10 GB SSD Weekly
Premium $2.49/month $119.52 $10.99/month 3 20 GB SSD Weekly
Unlimited $3.49/month $167.52 $16.99/month Unlimited 50 GB NVMe Daily
Cloud Startup $7.99/month $383.52 $25.99/month Unlimited 100 GB NVMe Daily and on demand

What is the cost in Indian rupees? On hostinger.com/in: Single ₹69/month (₹3,312 upfront, renews at ₹289), Premium ₹139 (₹6,672, renews at ₹449), Unlimited ₹199 (₹9,552, renews at ₹649) and Cloud Startup ₹599 (₹28,752, renews at ₹1,599), all before 18% GST.

Hostinger changes its promo prices often, so check the page on the day you buy.

Hostinger web hosting pricing page in US dollars, checked October 2026, showing Premium at $2.49, Unlimited at $3.49 and Cloud Startup at $7.99 a month

Hostinger's global page prints the 48-month total and the renewal price under each plan card, so you can see the jump before you pay.

What is the cost in Indian rupees? The same three plans cost ₹139, ₹199 and ₹599 a month on hostinger.com/in, plus 18% GST.

Bluehost India shared hosting plans

Plan Promo price Paid upfront (36 months) Renews at Websites Storage Phone support
Starter $3.99/month $143.64 $9.99/month 10 10 GB NVMe Not included
Business $6.99/month $251.64 $13.99/month 50 50 GB NVMe Included
eCommerce Essentials $14.99/month $539.64 $21.99/month 100 100 GB NVMe Included

What is the cost in Indian rupees? On bluehost.com/in: Starter ₹199/month (₹7,164 upfront, renews at ₹349), Business ₹279 (₹10,044, renews at ₹529) and eCommerce Essentials ₹649 (₹23,364, renews at ₹1,299), all before 18% GST.

All three Bluehost plans include free SSL (Let's Encrypt), a free CDN, weekly backups and a free domain for the first year. Bluehost doesn't show a 12-month price on the plan cards, so the shorter-term cost only appears in the cart.

Bluehost shared hosting pricing page in US dollars, checked October 2026, showing Starter at $3.99, Business at $6.99 and eCommerce Essentials at $14.99 a month

Bluehost lists the 36-month term and the renewal price right under each promo price, and Starter already covers 10 websites.

What is the cost in Indian rupees? The same plans cost ₹199, ₹279 and ₹649 a month on bluehost.com/in, plus 18% GST.

Hostinger wins on the upfront price, while Bluehost fits more websites into its entry plan.

Renewal prices and 5-year cost

Renewal is where the real cost sits. Both hosts charge two to five times the promo rate once the first term ends, so compare the total over five years, not the headline price.

The table below assumes you buy the longest promo term, then renew yearly at the listed renewal rate. Figures are in US dollars before tax.

Plan First term Each renewal year Total for 5 years Cost per site per year (if you use every slot)
Hostinger Single (1 site, India site only) about $35 for 4 years about $37 about $72 about $14
Hostinger Premium (3 sites) $119.52 for 4 years $131.88 $251.40 $16.76
Hostinger Unlimited $167.52 for 4 years $203.88 $371.40 Depends on sites
Bluehost Starter (10 sites) $143.64 for 3 years $119.88 $383.40 $7.67
Bluehost Business (50 sites) $251.64 for 3 years $167.88 $587.40 $2.35

What is the cost in Indian rupees? On the India sites, five years cost ₹6,780 on Hostinger Single, ₹12,060 on Premium, ₹17,340 on Unlimited, ₹15,540 on Bluehost Starter and ₹22,740 on Bluehost Business, before 18% GST. In rupees, Hostinger Unlimited and Bluehost Starter work out to exactly ₹2,388 a year in the first term. With GST, Single's ₹3,312 becomes about ₹3,908 and Starter's ₹7,164 about ₹8,454.

Three things stand out:

  1. For one website, Hostinger Premium costs about a third less than Bluehost Starter over five years ($251.40 against $383.40). If you buy Single on Hostinger's India site, the gap is far wider (about $72 converted).
  2. Hostinger Unlimited costs less per year than Bluehost Starter in the first term. $167.52 over four years is $41.88 a year; $143.64 over three years is $47.88 a year. Hostinger gives you 50 GB NVMe storage and daily backups for that; Bluehost gives you 10 GB and weekly backups but a lower renewal ($9.99 against $16.99 a month).
  3. Bluehost's renewal comes a year earlier. Its promo term is 36 months against Hostinger's 48, so the higher price hits you in year four instead of year five.

Indian buyers pay 18% GST on top of every figure, as the rupee line above shows. Remember the domain renews separately after the free first year; our guide to domain name prices in India lists typical .in and .com renewal rates.

The promo price covers only the first term; every year after that is billed at the higher renewal rate.

Server location and speed for Indian visitors

Hostinger has the clearer India story. Its server locations help page (opens in new tab) lists India as a location for web, cloud and VPS hosting, and names Mumbai for its Agency plans. You pick the location when you set up the site.

Bluehost India's shared hosting page says you choose from data centres across North America, South America, Europe and Asia at checkout, but it doesn't name an Indian city for shared plans. Bluehost added Mumbai as a Managed VPS location (opens in new tab) in September 2026, alongside Singapore and Sydney, but that announcement covers VPS only. Check the location list in the cart before you pay, and pick the closest one to your readers.

Why it matters: a server in India cuts the network round trip for readers in Delhi, Pune or Chennai. Singapore is still reasonably close for Indian visitors; a US server is noticeably slower for an India-focused site unless you put a CDN in front of it.

On the hardware side, both are modern. Bluehost uses NVMe storage on every shared plan and says its servers run AMD EPYC chips with DDR5 RAM. Hostinger runs LiteSpeed web servers with a built-in CDN, and uses NVMe on Unlimited and above. Neither company publishes long-term speed tests from India, so treat any "X is faster" claim you read with care. Your theme, plugins and images affect speed more than the host's disk type.

Dashboard: hPanel vs Bluehost Account Manager

Hostinger uses its own dashboard, hPanel. Bluehost uses its Account Manager, with a cPanel button on plans and accounts that still include it.

hPanel is built for beginners: big tiles for websites, domains, email and billing, one-click WordPress install, a file manager, phpMyAdmin, DNS editor, backups and a PHP version switcher. The catch is that it isn't cPanel, so tutorials written for cPanel won't match screen for screen.

Bluehost's Account Manager handles billing, domains and WordPress sites. Bluehost's help articles describe opening cPanel from the Hosting tab, but its onboarding article also says some newer accounts won't see a traditional cPanel and get the same settings inside the Account Manager instead. If cPanel matters to you (for example, your developer only works in it), confirm with Bluehost chat before buying. Our explainer on what cPanel is covers the difference.

Both are listed as recommended hosts on WordPress.org's hosting page (opens in new tab), alongside Pressable. The old "Bluehost is the WordPress-recommended host" line no longer sets it apart.

Backups, email and free domain

Hostinger gives more on email and backups at the higher tier; Bluehost gives more websites per dollar.

Feature Hostinger Bluehost India
Backups Weekly on Single and Premium, daily on Unlimited Weekly on all three shared plans
Business email Mailboxes included (free for the first year on Premium and above) Pro Email free trial, then about $2.50/month
Free domain Premium and above, 12 months or longer; not Single All plans, on 12 or 36 month terms; redeem within 90 days
Free SSL Yes Yes (Let's Encrypt)
CDN Built in Free CDN

What is the cost in Indian rupees? Bluehost India's Pro Email renews at ₹238/month after the trial (about $2.50 at ₹95 per dollar), plus 18% GST.

Two details trip people up:

Payments, GST and auto-renewal

Both accept UPI in India. The difference is renewal: Hostinger can auto-renew on an eligible saved payment method, while Bluehost India says it can't auto-renew Indian payment methods at all.

Hostinger lists Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Diners Club and RuPay cards, UPI, and PayPal (billed in US dollars) for INR payments. Prices exclude GST, and you can add your GSTIN at checkout.

Bluehost India processes INR payments through PayU and accepts credit and debit cards, net banking and UPI (for carts up to about $1,050, which is ₹1,00,000). Its payment types help page (opens in new tab) says PayPal isn't available for Indian customers, and adds: "customers cannot store Indian payment methods on file or set up auto-renewals in India."

That last line matters more than it looks. With Bluehost India, you must renew by hand before expiry. Miss the reminder emails and your site and email go offline. Put the renewal date in your calendar the day you buy.

Support, uptime promise and refunds

Bluehost has the edge on support if you pay for the Business plan; otherwise both are chat-first.

  • Hostinger: 24/7 live chat and email or ticket support. An AI assistant answers first and hands over to a human. There is no phone line.
  • Bluehost India: 24/7 chat on all plans. Its plan page marks phone support "Not Included" on Starter and "Included" on Business and eCommerce Essentials.
  • Uptime promise: Bluehost's India page says it promises 99.99% uptime on shared hosting, with a single 5% monthly credit you can claim within 30 days if it misses. Hostinger's hosting agreement promises 99.9% a month, with a 5% credit usable on Hostinger products.
  • Refunds: both offer 30 days. Bluehost says it gives no refunds for cancellations after 30 days, and if your plan included a free domain, a non-refundable domain fee is deducted. Domains are generally non-refundable at Hostinger too.

Is Hostinger worth it, and why some say it is not good

Yes, Hostinger is worth it for beginners and small sites if you pay for the long term and plan for renewal. The complaints you'll find on Reddit and review sites are real, but most are about pricing and support style rather than downtime.

The common reasons people say Hostinger is not good:

  • Renewal shock. Premium jumps from $2.49 to $10.99 a month, about 4.4 times the promo price.
  • No phone support. Chat goes through an AI assistant first, which frustrates people in a hurry.
  • Checkout upsells. Extra domain add-ons, email and other services are pre-offered in the cart.
  • Weekly backups on lower plans. Only Unlimited and above get daily backups.
  • Not cPanel. People moving from older hosts find hPanel unfamiliar.

Bluehost draws similar complaints, plus a few of its own: a 36-month minimum for the promo price, an email trial that turns paid, and manual renewal for Indian payments. Neither host is "bad"; both price low upfront and recover the money at renewal.

Which one should you pick

Pick based on how many websites you'll run and how long you'll keep them.

Your situation Pick Why
First blog or portfolio, one site Hostinger Single (add a domain) or Premium Lowest upfront and 5-year cost, India server
Small business site with email Hostinger Premium Free domain and mailboxes for the first year, India server
WordPress site where daily backups matter Hostinger Unlimited Daily backups and 50 GB NVMe at a lower first-term yearly cost than Bluehost Starter in USD (the same ₹2,388 a year in rupees)
Freelancer running 4 to 10 small client sites Bluehost Starter 10 sites, lowest renewal per site
Agency with dozens of small sites, wants phone support Bluehost Business 50 sites and phone support
Need cPanel specifically Ask Bluehost to confirm, or choose a cPanel host Hostinger uses hPanel only
Online store with real traffic Neither shared plan; look at cloud or VPS Shared plans share CPU with other customers

If you pay in rupees on hostinger.in, the one-site pick is Single at ₹69 a month; in USD, Single isn't on the global site, so the one-site pick is Premium at $2.49. Either way, Bluehost Starter renews cheaper than Hostinger Premium ($9.99 against $10.99 a month, or ₹349 against ₹449), but Premium still costs less over five years.

Hostinger vs Bluehost for India: a shop owner launching a website on a laptop, with a short cable to a nearby server labelled Nearby server and a long cable labelled Far-away server

A server close to your readers shortens the trip every page makes, which is why an India location matters for an India-focused site.

Hostinger alternatives if neither fits

If renewal prices put you off both, there are other routes:

  • Indian hosts with same-price renewal offers, such as MilesWeb, suit people who hate renewal jumps. Read the conditions; the free domain still renews at normal rates.
  • A VPS gives you a fixed monthly price with no promo-to-renewal jump, but you manage the server yourself. Our Contabo VPS review covers one budget option.
  • Free hosting for practice: if you are learning, the Oracle Cloud free tier gives you a free VPS to experiment on before paying anyone.

For a wider list ranked by first-year and renewal price, see our guide to the cheapest web hosting in India. More hosting guides are in our web hosting section.

Six numbers to check before you pay either host

  • Upfront, Hostinger Premium costs $119.52 for four years and Bluehost Starter $143.64 for three (Indian buyers add 18% GST); on hostinger.in, Single at ₹69/month is cheaper still.
  • Over five years, Premium costs $251.40 against $383.40 on Starter, even though Starter renews $1 a month lower.
  • Bluehost Starter allows 10 websites and renews at $9.99/month, the better deal per site if you'll use those slots.
  • Hostinger lists India as a web hosting location; Bluehost names Mumbai only for Managed VPS, not shared plans.
  • Bluehost India can't auto-renew with Indian payment methods, so set a calendar reminder.
  • Phone support exists only on Bluehost Business and above; Hostinger is chat only.

Hostinger for one or two sites, Bluehost for ten

The Hostinger vs Bluehost decision comes down to how many sites you run. For one or two sites aimed at Indian readers, Hostinger is cheaper upfront, cheaper over five years and has an India server. For a freelancer or agency running many small sites, Bluehost Starter's 10 websites and $9.99 renewal win on cost per site, as long as you remember to renew manually. Whichever you choose, buy the longest term you can afford and note the renewal date on day one. Compare more options in our cheapest web hosting in India guide.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Hostinger better than Bluehost in India?

For most beginners, yes. Hostinger costs less to start ($2.49 a month on Premium against $3.99 on Bluehost Starter, before tax), lists an India server location and can auto-renew on an eligible saved payment method. Bluehost is better if you need many websites on one plan, since Starter allows 10 sites and renews at $9.99 a month.

Which is cheaper, Hostinger or Bluehost?

Hostinger is cheaper for one or two websites. Its Premium plan is $2.49 a month on a 48-month term and renews at $10.99, against Bluehost Starter's $3.99 promo and $9.99 renewal. If you pay in rupees on hostinger.in, Single is cheaper still at ₹69 (about $0.73) a month; in USD, Premium is Hostinger's cheapest plan. Bluehost renews $1 a month cheaper than Premium, and it becomes cheaper per site once you host four or more sites, because Starter covers 10 websites for the same plan price.

Does Bluehost have a data centre in India?

Bluehost India's shared hosting page says you choose a data centre region at checkout but doesn't name an Indian city. Since September 2026 Bluehost offers Mumbai, Singapore and Sydney for Managed VPS, but not for shared plans. Check the location list in your cart before paying, and pick the closest region to your audience.

Can I pay for Bluehost India with UPI?

Yes. Bluehost India takes INR payments through PayU, including UPI for carts up to about $1,050 (₹1,00,000), plus cards and net banking. PayPal isn't available for Indian customers. Bluehost also says Indian payment methods can't be stored or used for auto-renewal, so you'll need to renew manually before your plan expires.

Is Hostinger worth it for a WordPress blog?

Yes, if you buy a long term. Hostinger gives one-click WordPress, LiteSpeed caching, a built-in CDN and an India server. The Unlimited plan at $3.49 a month on 48 months is the best value for WordPress because it adds daily backups and 50 GB NVMe storage. Plan for the $16.99 monthly renewal later.

Why do people say Hostinger is not good?

Most complaints are about renewal prices, which jump to roughly four to five times the promo rate, chat support that starts with an AI assistant, no phone support, checkout upsells and weekly backups on the lower plans. Downtime complaints are less common. Buying a long term and checking renewal prices first avoids most of these problems.

Does Bluehost India have phone support?

Only on some plans. Bluehost India's shared hosting page lists phone support as not included on the Starter plan and included on the Business and eCommerce Essentials plans. All plans get 24/7 chat support. Hostinger has no phone support on any plan and works through live chat and email tickets.

Do Hostinger and Bluehost give a free domain?

Both do, with conditions. Bluehost includes a free domain for the first year on all shared plans bought on 12 or 36 month terms, redeemed within 90 days. Hostinger includes one on Premium and higher plans bought for 12 months or longer, but not on the Single plan. In both cases the domain renews at the normal price from year two.

Can I move my site from Bluehost to Hostinger later?

Yes. A WordPress site can be moved with a migration plugin or the new host's migration tool, and Hostinger offers website migration from hPanel. Move the files and database first, test the site on the new host, then change the domain's nameservers. Keep the old plan active for a few days until DNS settles.

Which host is better for multiple websites?

Bluehost is better value for many small sites. Starter allows 10 websites and Business allows 50, with renewals of $9.99 and $13.99 a month. Hostinger Premium allows only 3 websites; for more you need Unlimited, which renews at $16.99 a month. If those sites get real traffic, consider cloud hosting or a VPS instead of shared plans.
